Makeup Mistakes to Aviod - Guest post by Gurleen from The Desi Damsel

Hello all you beautiful people out there and welcome to Hiro's blog again! This is not your everyday author. I run a blog on WordPress with the name THE DESI DAMSEL and this one is going to be a guest post.

All right so, while I was learning (still learning) and practicing all this makeup jazz, sometimes I ended up looking like a clown. I would either fill my eyebrows real bad, over line my lips too big or sometimes I simply wouldn't  no where to stop my contour and since I've learnt from all of my mistakes, I thought of sharing it with you guys so you could avoid some.

I would like to add up that makeup really has no rules, you do what pleases you, but you do what makes you look good or enhances your features than otherwise and certain guidelines can help you from avoiding makeup blunders.

I don't think I have to stress on how important it is to prime your face. If you want your makeup to last longer make sure you prime it well. It makes a lot of difference. If you don't have a primer,
I would suggest you to go get one.

Want to perfect your foundation game? Hit my blog because Hiral has written all you should be knowing about foundations.

While I started writing about contouring, I realised this needs a whole blog post, hence I came up with a whole post dedicated to contouring. I am going to link my blog add below so you could read that too.

Raise your hands if you see girls going all uneven with their lines when it comes to eyeliners. Eyeliners, specially the liquid ones can be really tough to play with and it does take A LOT of practise to be good at it and all that practise needs to be done at home.

My only point is, if you are still not perfect at that wing, don't wear it.

A softly smudged look is better than uneven lines on your eyes, ANY DAY, ANYTIME. Just smudge away any harsh lines with your ring finger and you are good to go.

Also, use an eye primer for better pigmentation and long staying over of your eye makeup.

Never go overboard with your contour and blush. You want your whole makeup to be blended and to look like one beautiful whole piece of art and not some harsh patches of blush and highlighter randomly placed.

The best way to apply blush is to place your index and middle finger together from your nose and then apply the blush on your cheeks. Always remember your blush should never come over your contour.

Eyebrows can make or break your look.
NEVER EVER fill your brows with anything black. No no no!

Ideally the colour of your brows should match the colour of your hair. Even then, if you have like deep matte black hair, go for grey colours to fill in your brows.
Grey, dark browns are the perfect colours to fill in your eyebrows with for Indian skin tones
Also, always use lighter colour in the starting of your brow and darker as you proceed.

Build in slowly, and always remember to follow your natural brow shape unless you really want to end  up looking weird or clown type.

Before I even get on with this, I really want you to know that you, my reader, my girl are perfect, just the way you are.
You've got fuller lips? Thin lips? One lip fuller and the other one not? And this bothers you?

Well I have a lower lip fuller than the upper one, sometimes when I laugh out too hard you cant even see my upper lip and when I realise that, I laugh out even harder. Be a woman who knows to accept and embrace her faults, not a girl who cribs over it.

If you just skipped the above two paragraphs go back and read it. Right now!

Enhance what you already have with the help of makeup, don't create something you don't have in the first place.

Getting back to the content, outlining your lips really helps to keep that lipstick in place and stay longer. If you want a look to stay for 7-8 hours, outline your lips with a lip liner. Now, i said outline and not draw a whole new lip there. Believe it or not, people can make out,  they can easily makeout when you go too overboard with lip lining and it can end up looking really bad.

The correct way to do this is, over lining your Cupid's bow slightly  slightly and connecting it back to your natural lip line as you come down.

I guess I've covered up everything that I wanted to share and I hope you've liked it as much as you like Hiral's posts :) I'm going to link down my blog, and hopefully see you there too. Till then, take care, keep rocking!

5 Smart Ways to use a Pressed Powder/Compact Powder

A pressed powder is one of the most basic makeup product in any girl's makeup pouch. It is absolutely so versatile and useful. So here is a post about 6 ways to actually use a pressed powder/compact powder beyond its regular use.

1)As an Eye Shadow
Many times, we opt for a matte and neutral eye makeup because shimmer is not always wearable. In case you do not want to use an eye shadow for any reason, you can use a pressed powder shade in the inner one-third of your eye as the lightest shade of color in a gradient eye makeup or a smokey eye.

In place of

2)As a brow bone highlighter
Believe me when I say this, shimmer on the the brow bone looks terrible, it draws all the attention to itself and makes the eye and lip makeup less noticeable.Using a pressed powder to highlight your brow bone will look more natural and soft.

3)To matte-ify lipsticks
Dabbing some pressed powder onto a gloss finish lipstick will actually make it look matte.Just use a tissue paper and place it onto your lips and use a fluffy brush to apply the powder. Imagine the endless option of finishes you would have if you used this trick. You could also make a lipstick stay for longer by using another coat of lipstick on the powder, since the cream and powder adhere to one another, the lipstick stays in place for longer.

4)For Contouring
Contouring has become a rage and gone. But I genuinely like it, provide it is subtle and not over the top.Use a slightly lighter compact powder to highlight some regions of your face for example, you cheekbones, forehead, chin, tip of your face and so on.Use a darker shade to contour the regions of your face like the part below you cheekbones, jawline, hairline and the sides of your nose to get a slimmer looking face.

5)For on-the-go touch ups
This is one method pressed powders were meant to be used, use the powder with a retractable brush and stay oil free and sweat free all day.Keeping one in your purse is mandatory.
